In accordance with University policy regarding a recent change in Oracle Java licensing, all system-wide Oracle Java installs will be removed from HCC systems no later than August 1st, 2024. All individual use of Oracle Java on HCC systems must also cease at that time, unless a user has arranged a specific exception through ITS. On Swan, HCC is providing two alternatives to Oracle Java in the form of OpenJDK and Amazon Corretto. The module names for these packages are 'openjdk' and 'corretto-jdk' respectively. HCC encourages any user using the existing 'java' modules to transition to one of these packages instead. Effective August 1st 2024, the java modules will be permanently redirected to use openjdk.
